Madison Opera is holding auditions on Saturday, May 12th for Wisconsin and Upper-Midwest based young artists for its Studio Artists Program in the 2018/19 season.

Responsibilities will include covering mainstage roles, singing small roles as appropriate, and performing previews and other outreach activities as scheduled by mutual agreement between September 2018 and May 2019.

Please note:
This is not a full-time program. Compensation will be based on specific assignments, and outreach activities will be scheduled by mutual agreement. While there is no specific age range, artists should have completed their undergraduate degree and be in the early stages of a professional opera career.

A Little Night Music by Stephen Sondheim AUDITIONS
Madison Opera is holding auditions for three principal roles in A Little Night Music by Stephen Sondheim, to be performed in February 2019 in the Capitol Theater.

Audition Date:

The Madison Opera Center, 335 W. Mifflin Street, Madison

Available Roles:
• Madame Armfeldt: 60s-70s. A grande dame who enjoyed many love affairs in her day and is now confined to a wheelchair. A brutally honest observer and commentator on the follies of others.
Vocal range: C3-F#4.

• Petra: 20s. The Egermans’ maid – earthy, impetuous, and sexually adventurous.
Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano belt F#3-F5.

• Fredrika Armfeldt: 13 years old. Daughter of Desiree Armfeldt, and wise beyond her years.
Vocal range: C4-Eb5.

This is a paid professional opera engagement. Performers must be fully memorized for the first rehearsal.

Rehearsal and Performance Schedule:
The first rehearsal is on January 19, 2019. Rehearsals are generally scheduled for afternoons and evenings and set in advance. Some staging rehearsals can be flexible based on actor’s availability. Performances are February 8 and 10, 2019 at the Capitol Theater, Overture Center.
