Opera Novice

New opera-goer?  Just want more insight into opera? Come to the Margaret C. Winston Madison Opera Center for a short, fun, and informative evening about the art form that is opera. Learn about different aspects of opera, enjoy a live performance, and have the chance to ask questions. It's the perfect jump-start for the opera curious.

Opera Novice is FREE and open to the public, but reservations are requested so we can guarantee everyone gets a chair.  Opera Novice takes place at The Margaret C. Winston Madison Opera Center, 335 W. Mifflin Street, Madison.

Charlie Parker's Yardbird | Jazz Opera?

Madison Opera will offer the Midwest premiere of Charlie Parker's Yardbird by Daniel Schnyder in February 2017.  This new opera is not the first jazz-influenced opera to be written, though.  Join us to learn more about the melding of jazz and opera and about Charlie Parker's Yardbird, including a live performance of one of Charlie's arias.
